Athletistic / Rugby. South African rugby player Bongi Mbonambi could be disqualified from the 2023 World Cup final over racism allegations.

According to the British tabloid Daily Mail, on October 21, during the semi-final of the 2023 World Cup between the national teams of South Africa and England (4:15 p.m.), Mbonambi allegedly insulted English player Tom Curry. During the match, Curry approached the referee and told him that his opponent had called him a “white c***.” The Englishman confirmed the conflict with Mbonambi after the match, but refused to repeat the insults hurled at him by his opponent.

The source notes that Mbonambi’s action could result in disqualification from the final match. World Rugby prohibits any abuse “based on religion, race, nationality or ethnicity”.

In the final of the world championship, the South African team will face the New Zealand team. The meeting will take place on October 28 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis (France).
