The Gypsy King is focused on fighting Francis
WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury commented on the upcoming fight against the former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
“I don’t look past Ngannou. I’m not sitting here waiting for other fights and I’m not involved in boxing politics. If you count your chickens before they hatch, you’ll usually fail.”
“I remember a while ago Anthony Joshua was in New York and had to fight a little-known Andy Ruiz. All Anthony did then was talk about the fight with Deontay Wilder. He wasn’t focused on the little fat guy back then and ended up getting destroyed. I don’t do such things.”
“I don’t care about Usyk now. I’m completely focused on Ngannou. I don’t know if it will be easy or hard for me, but I’m not going to lose focus because of the undisputed fight. “I’m not going to think about a middleweight when there’s a giant standing in front of me,” Fury said.
Fury previously compared Ngannou to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk. The Briton said that the Ukrainian’s blow would leave a bruise, while Francis would “blow your brains out.”
The 10-round fight between Fury and former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will take place on October 28 in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The WBC granted Tyson special permission to fight the former UFC champion.
The Riyadh championship belt will be at stake in the Fury-Ngannou fight. The British promoter Frank Warren presented a special trophy at a joint press conference.
