World and European figure skating champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva shared how she would feel about having a street in her hometown named after her.
On Sunday, the 26-year-old figure skater announced that she had decided to take a break from her professional career. Tuktamysheva said she would continue skating in the show and perform at the Russian Show Jumping Championship, which will take place in December in St. Petersburg.
— If in your native Glazov they wanted to name a street after you, how would they react to that?
– Well, if it’s a small street, why not (laughs). Or some sort of alley.
— Do you remember the first publications about you in the media?
— The first publications about me in the media probably began to appear when I arrived at Alexey Nikolayevich (Mishin) and began to earn something. My friends keep notes on me. I remember there was a note from 2007. I didn’t really follow it, I didn’t really enjoy reading for myself. Apparently my provincial upbringing took its toll. Now, if they talk about me, that’s fine, but it rarely happens that they don’t talk about me at all. “You are probably getting used to a certain rhythm of life,” Tuktamysheva said on Radio Zenit.
Tuktamysheva is 2015 world champion, 2021 world vice-champion, 2015 European champion, winner of the Grand Prix Series final of the 2014/15 season.
