Athletistic/Figure skating. Irina Rodnina, three-time Olympic figure skating champion and Russian State Duma deputy, spoke about Alena Kostornaya’s comments after her performance on the Russian Grand Prix stage in Omsk.

Kostornaya was unhappy with the scores given by the judges for her performance with Georgy Kunitsa. She said figure skating sometimes faces difficulties and the couple’s efforts were in vain. She later admitted that the judgment was impartial and that she had said too much.

“Alena is just beginning her journey. It is important for her to understand that the transition from single to pair skating takes a lot of time and hard work. All merits are in the past. Of course, Kostornaya went too far. There is no point in discussing refereeing. Blaming the judges is a sign of weakness,” Rodnina emphasized in an interview with RB Sport.

At the competition in Omsk, Kostornaya and Kunitsa took fourth place in the pairs competition.
