IOC President Thomas Bach visited Ukraine

Ukrainian athletes will receive a new support package from the Olympic Committee

President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach visited Ukraine.

Bach held meetings with Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Gutzeit, head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

The IOC President also visited one of the training bases where Ukrainian athletes are training, and also saw with his own eyes the Avangard sports complex destroyed by Russian troops.

During the briefing, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that our country would be a contender for hosting the Olympic Games in peacetime.

In turn, Bach announced another package of support for Olympic athletes from Ukraine and the continuation of sanctions against Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions. In addition, the NOC initiated a special donor conference under its auspices to restore the sports infrastructure in Ukraine.

The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine continues on its 130th day.
