Pusic officially became Shakhtar’s new head coach

The Bosnian agreed to terminate his contract with Feyenoord in order to move to the Ukrainian club

Bosnian specialist Marino Pusic officially became the new head coach Shakhtar. The contract was signed until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Pusic terminated the agreement with Feyenoord, which was valid until the summer of 2025. The Ukrainian club agreed with the Rotterdam team on the terms of the coach’s transfer.

“Although I really enjoyed my time in Rotterdam, being the head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk is a unique opportunity for me in every way,” Pusic said.

Pusic worked as an assistant to Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot. Earlier it was reported that the Bosnian’s assistant at Shakhtar would be the famous former Croatian footballer and later scout Mario Stanic.

Let us remind you that Shakhtar management previously fired Patrick van Leeuwen, with whom the team played only 12 games. Along with the mentor, his staff also resigned.

Sports director Darijo Srna acted as interim head coach. The miners won their first victory under the leadership of the Croatian, beating LNZ in the 11th round of the UPL (3:0). The Croatian became the best tour coach in the Premier League.

Shakhtar ranks third in the Ukrainian Championship with 21 points after ten matches. The Pitmen will play their next match in the Champions League against Barcelona on October 25.
