Szabo: I am convinced that Shakhtar did not need a head coach. Three mentors in a year is too much

Miners were recently headed by Marino Pusic

Former mentor Dynamo and the Ukrainian national team Jozsef Szabo dissatisfied with the appointment Marino Pusic for the position of head coach of Donetsk Shakhtar.

“I don’t even know how to comment on this. Pusic doesn’t know the team at all, and probably hasn’t even seen the matches. What can he do? Give results immediately? Beat Barcelona? No. I do not believe”.

“I’m not sure that Srna wants to work as a head coach at Shakhtar. It seems that Srna is simply not confident in himself. Meanwhile, he has been in the structure of the club for many years, knows the team perfectly from the inside and has all the makings to become a coach.”

“And this Bosnian, Pusic, he never worked independently as a head coach anywhere. Studying his biography, I noticed that he constantly assisted. I am convinced that Shakhtar does not need a new coach now. Three mentors in a year is already too much.”

Yesterday, Shakhtar officially announced the appointment of Marino Pusic as head coach. Gornyakov sporting director Dario Srna said that the new coach will be on the coaching bench with him in the match with Barcelona.

Pusic worked as an assistant to Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot. Earlier it was reported that the Bosnian’s assistant at Shakhtar would be the famous former Croatian footballer and later scout Mario Stanic.

The Blue Garnets’ match against the Ukrainian champion will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona on Wednesday, October 25. The meeting starts at 19:45 Kyiv time. The match will be judged by the Slovak team of referees led by Ivan Kruzljak.

Shakhtar is in third place in Group H with three points. In the UPL standings, the Miners are in third position.
