The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) is dictated from above by the decisions it makes regarding Russian athletes, the Olympic champion told . Nikita Kryoukov .
On Wednesday, FIS Council member Erik Röste said the decision to suspend the Russians and Belarusians following a FIS Council meeting had been extended for the upcoming season.
— How do you assess the FIS decision regarding the Russians?
— I think that the FIS is not guided only by its own opinion. They are told from above what to do. But the FIS loses a lot without Russian skiers. Last season showed that the World Cup was the Norwegian championship, which is not particularly interesting to many,” Kryukov told .
Russians and Belarusians have been suspended from FIS competitions since March 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine.
