Skaters Natalia Khabibullina And Ilya Kniajouk who participate in sports competitions as a couple, told in an interview with how they recover from the stress of the main competitions of the season.
At the 2023 Russian Championships in Krasnoyarsk, Khabibullina and Knyazhuk took sixth place, scoring 209.53 points for two programs. Alexandra Boykova/Dmitry Kozlovsky took first place (234.39), second place went to Anastasia Mishina/Alexander Gallyamov (233.88), third place went to Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov (218.60).
— You started acting in the show. Does this help you relax?
Kniajouk: It’s not like we go to concerts often.
Khabibullina: Yes, we only had a solo number once. It turned out unexpectedly. We started working on programs with Ilya Izyaslavich (Averbukh) and he invited us to participate in his show. Of course, we accepted! How can you disagree?
Kniajouk: When you skate to live music, it’s an incredible feeling. You recharge your batteries, it brings you a lot.
Khabibullina: Acting in the show definitely gives you confidence because there are no such difficult elements. You understand that if something doesn’t work, you can overcome it. In such conditions you open up, it’s very cool.
— That is, if you are invited to the New Year holidays on a tour with a show, will you go? Or is it better to relax, go to the bathhouse?
Kniajouk: I love public baths!
Khabibullina: I’d better get some rest. I like to return home during the New Year holidays – to my native Izhevsk to spend time with my family.
Kniajouk: Last year I came to visit Natasha.
Khabibullina: Yes, we had a great New Year. We had time to relax and celebrate the end of the Russian championship. It’s a stressful tournament, after which you always want to relax. Well, in the second half of the season there are responsible and important departures. I feel like the shows might be a little slow to prepare for.
Kniajouk: That doesn’t mean we don’t want to be on the show. We are happy to participate, but preparation for competitions is a priority for us,” the skaters told .
