President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (RFSR) Elena Vyalbe called for the decision of the Council of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to extend the suspension of Russian athletes for the 2023/24 season.
On Wednesday, FIS Council member Erik Röste said the decision to suspend the Russians and Belarusians following a FIS Council meeting had been extended for the upcoming season.
– It’s expected, we didn’t expect anything else from them. The Russian Ski Sports Association is in contact with the FIS. We’re not even thinking about admission at the moment, our calendar is full, we’re competing. “Everything has its time,” Metaratings.ru quotes Vyalbe.
Russians and Belarusians have been suspended from FIS competitions since March 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine.
At the end of March this year, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced recommendations for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual admission, neutral status, banning participation in team sports, and banning participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.
