The Ministry of Sports of the Krasnoyarsk Territory explained the choice of the arena to host the Russian Grand Prix of figure skating

Minister of Sports of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Denis Petrovsky explained why the third stage of the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix is ​​taking place in Krasnoyarsk, at the local Crystal Ice Arena, and not at the Platinum Arena.

The Grand Prix stage in Krasnoyarsk will take place from October 27 to 30. In early October, the region’s Ministry of Sports announced the restriction of holding public events at the Platinum Arena due to detected defects.

— At the Crystal Arena, there is both a main arena and a training arena, which is provided for by the competition regulations. Of course, when the Russian Championship takes place, we understand that this is an event that arouses increased spectator interest. So this is the Grand Prix stage, guided by logic and common sense: it is better to have a sold-out arena for 2.5 thousand spectators than half of the Platinum Arena”, Petrovsky quotes Gornovosti.ru .

According to Petrovsky, the defects discovered during the examination at the Platinum Arena do not affect the performance of the facility.

— Today, an instrumental examination is being carried out there. Based on the results of the intermediate stage of the investigation, no structural changes or threats to the operation of this facility were detected. Yes, some identified defects must be eliminated, but they do not affect the functionality of the installation. This is why competition and training activities are organized there. In this case, we are talking about the Sokol hockey club, which trains there and plays in the VHL,” Petrovsky said.

Previously, the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory received a statement from the regional prosecutor’s office addressed to the State Property Management Agency of the region, the regional center of sports facilities Platinum Arena JSC and the regional ministry sports. The department demands the return of the arena donated to the region due to “deliberate concealment of the technical condition of the sports facility.”
