SAPO plans to appeal the change in the preventive measure against the businessman
Co-owner Chernomorets Boris Kaufman was released on bail of 150 million hryvnia.
The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) held a corresponding meeting on October 26. The court changed the bail amount, which previously amounted to 268.4 million hryvnia. The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) announced that it plans to appeal this court decision.
Kaufman was arrested in early September. Later, VAKS sent another co-owner of Chernomorets, Alex Borukhovich, into custody.
The businessmen are accused of illegally seizing the property complex of a strategic facility – the Odessa International Airport and 2.5 billion hryvnia in income from its activities. Kaufman is one of the suspects; the investigation considers him the organizer of the illegal scheme. Borukhovich, who previously bore the name of Alexander Granovsky, appears in the case as an accomplice.
Let us remind you that in December 2022, Kaufman was detained by NABU officers. He is suspected of participating in a criminal group that was involved in corruption schemes in Odessa for the illegal seizure of property from the city’s municipal property. The businessman was later released on bail of 129 million hryvnia.
The businessman made the purchase of Chernomorets in December 2021. It was reported that Kaufman bought the rights to the club from Leonid Klimov for 3.5 million conventional units.
