“The transition to a Russian specialist for Davis and Smolkin will mean a step back” – Vaitsekhovskaya

Olympic diving champion Elena Vaitsekhovskaya believes that the transition of the dance duo Diana Davis /Gleb Smolkin to the Russian coach will be a step back, noting the advantage of American and Canadian training systems.

Earlier, reported that one of the main purposes of coach Eteri Tutberidze’s visit to the United States was the desire to help his daughter Davis resolve the issue with the coach. The couple trained with Igor Shpilband, but the parties had contradictions, as a result of which work with a specialist was suspended.

– The transition to one of the Russian dance specialists for Davis and Smolkin will also, to some extent, mean a setback, because the Russian dance system is objectively inferior to the American and Canadian systems.

It’s not at all because our coaches are less good, there are enough strong specialists. But over a number of years, I’ve seen the same picture: Russian dancers are internationalizing and, to the astonishment of their own mentors, are beginning to receive inexplicably low levels for patterns and tracks. All this is already corrected during the season, when the majority of the judges have already firmly laid down flaws in their brains. As a result, we start losing positions long before the season approaches the main starts,” RT Vaytsekhovskaya quotes.
