Usik: I confirm that on December 23 I will fight Tyson Fury or someone else

The Ukrainian champion hopes that the unification fight will take place on the scheduled date

WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO title holder Alexander Usik declared that he would fight on December 23 “with Tyson Fury or anyone else,” but believes his opponent is still expected to be the British WBC heavyweight champion.

“Tyson Fury is someone who talks too much. His idea is to get into my head, but the reality is that I am in his head. I’m the one in his head.”

“I confirm that on December 23rd I will fight Tyson Fury or someone else, but it has to be Tyson Fury. I think that His Excellency made several compelling arguments in the negotiations, and I am very grateful to him for this,” Alexander emphasized.

Let us remember that Fury himself previously stated that the contract for the unification fight specified the date of December 23.

The day before, Usik arrived for the “Gypsy King” fight with ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian and the Briton greeted and hugged when they met, after which Alexander lifted Tyson up.

Today, October 28, Fury will fight Ngannou in a 10-round fight in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The WBC granted Tyson special permission to fight the former UFC champion.

The Riyadh championship belt will be at stake in the Fury-Ngannou fight. The British promoter Frank Warren presented a special trophy at a joint press conference.

It is expected that immediately after this fight the final date for the unification fight between Fury and WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO belt holder Alexander Usyk will be confirmed.
