Figure skating coach Inna Goncharenko spoke about her attitude to the plans of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva participate in the stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Kazan.
The Russian Grand Prix in Kazan will take place from November 10 to 13.
– Camila has already experienced the pressure and tension of the Olympic Games. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. Of course, there will be nervous tension, but the athlete must be able to survive it somehow. Kamila is a seasoned girl, she understands what is going to happen. She has to survive this stage of her life.
Valieva is a strong leader and athlete. If, together with the coaching team, they decided to compete, it means that they are aware that Camila will be able to pull herself together. This decision was most likely deliberate. The athlete is going through a training process, the stage is on track,” Goncharenko said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.
Valieva at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing helped the Russian team win gold in the team competition. Before the personal tournament, it became known that the banned drug trimetazidine was found during the doping test of the figure skater of the Russian championship. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) admitted the Russian to the individual competitions of the Games, where she took fourth place.
At the end of September, the CAS announced that the hearings in the Valieva case had been postponed and would resume on November 9 and 10. The athlete’s case was examined by the organization from September 26 to 28.
