Aliyev told how fishing helped him become first in the Russian Grand Prix short program

Russian figure skater Dmitry Aliyev told how he tried to calm down before competing in the short program of the third stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk.

According to the rental results, Aliyev took first place with 100.45 points.

— There were a lot of nerves. It was shaking like the 2018 Olympics. But that didn’t stop me from performing well, even though there were many minor mistakes. I instructed myself to ground myself. And it worked.

I recently caught a huge fish. Weighs approximately 9 kg. Today I tried to calm myself down by imagining fishing and nature. This atmosphere helps me,” Sport24 quotes Aliyev.

In second place after the short program is Alexander Samarin, who scored 93.92 points, the first three being closed by Fedor Zonov (80.38).

The skaters will present their free programs on Sunday, October 29.
