Amanda Serrano defends her featherweight titles in a 12-round bout against Danila Ramos

Puerto Rican record holder wins by unanimous decision

Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano defended the WBA, IBF and WBO featherweight titles against the Brazilian Danila Ramos.

The unprecedented fight consisted of 12 rounds of three minutes each. Previously, women’s championship bouts were limited to ten two-minute rounds.

This fact was the reason that the WBC champion title, which Serrano also holds, was not at stake. This organization does not approve women’s fights consisting of 12 rounds or rounds lasting three minutes.

In the ring, Serrano was clearly stronger than her opponent. She failed to finish the fight early, but all the judges awarded the Puerto Rican a victory on points with the same score of 120:108.

35-year-old Serrano is a record holder in professional boxing, she is the only woman to become a champion in seven weight categories.
