Beloded will miss the 2023 European Judo Championship

Daria has a back injury

Two-time world and European champion in judo, bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Daria Beloded will miss the upcoming continental championship in Montpellier due to a back injury.

“Daria received a slight injury to her back a few weeks before the European Championships, so after consultations we decided that she would miss this competition. There are still many starts ahead and I don’t want to aggravate this injury. There is nothing significant, but it’s not worth the risk,” said the head coach of the Ukrainian judo team, Vitaly Dubrova.

The National Judo Federation of Ukraine has decided on the participation of the country’s national team at the 2023 European Judo Championship. The blue-yellow team consists of 11 athletes.

Earlier, Vitaly Dubrova spoke about the possibility of a boycott of the 2023 European Championship due to admission of 21 Russian and Belarusian athletes to the continental championship, which will be held in Montpellier, France.

In May, the Ukrainian national team boycotted the 2023 World Judo Championship; in October, the Ukrainian team missed the youth world championship. In April, the International Judo Federation (IJF) allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete under a neutral flag in international competitions under its auspices.

The 2023 World Judo Championship will take place in France from November 3 to 5.
