Eubank Jr: Fury is now likely the underdog in the fight with Usyk

The former world middleweight champion believes that the Briton should draw conclusions after the fight with Francis Ngannou

Former world middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr believes that the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO title holder Alexander Usik will be the favorite to fight the WBC champion Tyson Fury after the Briton’s inexpressive performance in a duel with Francis Ngannou.

“Is this really happening? How did we get here? Tyson is clearly not prepared enough. I think too much time was spent making Netflix documentaries because it was like nothing else. He wasn’t active, didn’t show off his size or boxing ability. A guy who had never fought before can compete and sometimes dominate the rounds. For that reason, I think Fury deserved to lose.”

“I think this will light a fire under Tyson’s ass. “Okay, I need to get my act together because if I go against Usyk like I did against Ngannou, I won’t have a chance to win.” Now I think Fury is probably the underdog in this fight.”

Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. At the same time, the ex-UFC champion knocked Tyson down in the third round, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.

The Briton confirmed that his next fight will be with Usyk. The fight between the Ukrainian and British champions, who signed a contract for the fight for the title of absolute world champion, is planned to be held on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.

The contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title between Usik and Fury contains a rematch clause. The clause applies to both boxers; the loser can initiate a re-fight.
