Alexander Bolshunov Sr., father of a three-time Olympic cross-country ski champion Alexandra Bolshunova estimated the amount of prize money at Russian national competitions last season.
The winners of the Russian Cup for the 2022/23 season received additional prizes from sponsors in the amount of 1 million rubles. For second places in the general ranking, the reward was 700,000 rubles, for third places – 500,000 rubles.
— It’s not comparable to the World Cup, of course, but overall it’s okay. This is how it should be. Previously, people usually ran for medals and certificates at Russian competitions, now sponsors appear.
In the current situation, making money is not the most important thing. Even if we can’t live without money either. Why make God angry and say something is wrong?
