Ex-coach of Dynamo – about the transfer policy of the Kyiv club
Former head coach Dynamo Alexander Khatskevich shared his opinion about the current composition of the Kyiv team, as well as the work of the club and Mircea Lucescu on the transfer market.
“The coach must also demand transfers from the president. He, as a manager, assembles a team according to his vision of football. When Lucescu came to Dynamo, the team was assembled, he did not bring a single player. The teacher came when the class was ready.”
“Lucescu complains that 11 players have left, but you are an experienced coach, you see which positions need to be strengthened, so insist on it! In my time, 11 football players also left, and if you compare the names, it’s heaven and earth. I will only name the vice-world champion Vida, the Portuguese national team player Antunes, Yarmolenko, Mbokani, Gonzalez. But we put the team back together and made it competitive in the Europa League.”
“If Surkis didn’t buy players for Lucescu, it means the coach wasn’t so persistent. Apparently, Lucescu saw promise in these players. Therefore, the question here should be not only to Surkis, but also to Lucescu. He must be a full-fledged manager.”
Khatskevich headed Dynamo from 2017 to 2019. The coach was fired from his post after the Kiev team lost to Brugge (0:1, 3:3) in the Champions League qualification.
Dynamo is currently in seventh place in the Ukrainian Championship, gaining 16 points after 9 rounds. Mircea Lucescu’s team will play their next match against Shakhtar on November 3.
