Ukraine for the first time won the medal standings of the European Junior Wrestling Championship

Our wrestlers won 16 medals in Rome

national team Ukraine won the medal standings for the first time in history European junior wrestling championship among athletes under 20.

The blue-yellows won 16 medals in Rome: 6 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze. The best results were shown by the women’s team, which has eight medals and four victories at once. The titles of European champions were won by Alexandra Khomenets, Yulia Leskovets, Marina Skobelskaya and Irina Zablotskaya.

In men’s freestyle wrestling, Ukrainians received five awards, and in Greco-Roman wrestling – three. The only Ukrainian champion in freestyle wrestling at this tournament was Nikita Zubal. In Greco-Roman gold was brought by Mikhail Vishnivetsky.

Ukraine won the women’s wrestling team standings with 169 points and left Turkey (151) and Germany (117) behind. In other disciplines, Ukrainians entered the top 3.

The adult Ukrainian women’s wrestling team won the 2022 European Championship in Budapest in the overall standings.

Ukrainian athletes won five medals, including two gold, one silver and two bronze.
