MRI results worsened the player’s initial recovery forecast
Defender Bayern’s Matthijs de Ligt risks not playing until the end of this year.
Let us remind you that the Dutchman injured the internal collateral ligament and capsule of the knee joint in the German Cup match with Saarbrucken (1:2). His recovery was expected to take four to six weeks. However, after an MRI, doctors worsened the prognosis for the player’s recovery time. De Ligt will miss around eight weeks and, in the worst case scenario, won’t play in 2023.
Previously, De Ligt suffered a knee injury in a match with Bochum (7:0) in September, in which he scored himself, after which he missed three weeks. The defender has 10 appearances for Munich in all tournaments of the season.
Bayern were eliminated from the German Cup. Munich occupy second place in the Bundesliga. In the next match, Thomas Tuchel’s team will play against Borussia Dortmund on November 4.
