A disciplinary court has cleared Kazakh runner Nora Jeruto of violating anti-doping rules, according to the website of the Independent Authority for Combating Adverse Events in Athletics (AIU).
The athlete was temporarily suspended in April. The 28-year-old athlete was later reported to have consumed a banned substance or used a banned method. The court could not prove the athlete’s guilt and his temporary suspension was lifted. Jeruto was diagnosed with a peptic ulcer.
Originally from Kenya, Jeruto has been playing for Kazakhstan since early 2022. Last year she became world champion in the 3,000 meters steeplechase and in 2016 she won gold at the African Championships.
It is also reported that Kenyan marathon runner Michael Kunyunga has been disqualified for eight years for using banned drugs (nandrolone) and fraud; Ethiopian representative Zerfe Wondemagen, participating in the steeplechase, was suspended due to a sample in which erythropoietin was detected. Vondemagen was named one of the nominees for the 2021 World Athletics Rising Star.
