American figure skater Ilya Malinin showed the best result in the short program at the ISU Grand Prix stage in France.
Malinin received 101.58 points for his performance. His closest pursuer, Frenchman Adam Xiao Him Fa, scored 101.07 points.
The men will present their free programs on November 4.
Malinin was born in the United States to the family of Russian figure skaters Tatyana Malinina and Roman Skornyakov. They performed at union and Russian tournaments, and then represented Uzbekistan.
