The leading Ukrainian tennis player broke the series of defeats, winning a strong-willed victory over the Turk Celikbilek
Ukrainian tennis player Vitaly Sachko won a strong-willed victory in the first round of qualifying for the series tournament ATP 250 in Bulgarian Sofia.
Vitaly’s opponent was Turkish representative Altug Celikbilek. The first set did not go well for the Ukrainian right away – he lost on his serve in the second game, then a similar failure with the score 2:5.
In the second game, Sachko pulled himself together and managed to improve. The opponents were level, flawlessly returning their serves. So the score became 6:6, and the tiebreak was extremely dramatic. With the score 6:5, Djelikbilek had a great opportunity to win the match, but did not capitalize on his own serve. As a result, 8:6 in favor of Sachko.
Inspired by this success, in the third set Vitaly simply swept his opponent off the court – 6:1. This victory was his first in more than a month – before that, Sachko suffered five defeats in a row.
The first racket of Ukraine will compete with the Bosnian Nerman Fatic for the right to enter the main draw of the tournament in the capital of Bulgaria. The meeting will take place on November 5th.
