The Kiev club relied on its students, unlike Shakhtar
Former head coach Dynamo Mircea Lucescu decided to leave the team about a month ago, when he became convinced that the club’s policy had radically changed, reports the Romanian publication DigiSport.
Lucescu’s departure was influenced by Dynamo’s decision to rely on its students, unlike Shakhtar, who actively worked in the transfer market and signed new players, including foreign players. It is also noted that salaries in the Kyiv team were reduced due to the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
“I wanted to play this match with Shakhtar, I could have left a long time ago, I spoke with the president. Even the financial capabilities were not the same as Shakhtar’s. We only had players from the academy, we had no competition in positions, it was not very good. Guardiola changes players every year. Either you change the coach or the players,” Lucescu said.
“If my health allows me to continue, I will continue. There is no life for me without football. They didn’t think for a second that I could leave. Everyone regrets that I made such a decision.”
Lucescu resigned after Dynamo’s defeat in the match with Shakhtar (0:1). The Romanian specialist has led the Kyiv team since 2020. In the first season under the leadership of the Romanian, the white-blues became the champion of Ukraine, and also won the Ukrainian Cup and Super Cup.
Alexander Shovkovsky has been appointed to the position of acting head coach of Dynamo Kyiv. The white-blues will play their next match on November 12 against Krivbass.
