Froch: If Joshua’s head isn’t okay, his chances against Ngannou are 50/50

AJ and Francis could be rivals soon

Former world super middleweight champion Carl Froch shared his thoughts on a possible fight between the former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and former UFC world champion Francis Ngannou.

“I have to bet on Joshua to beat Ngannou. Francis would be fighting his second fight in professional boxing, and Anthony is a pretty good, quality fighter.”

“But what happens if AJ goes into the fight thinking, ‘Damn it, Ngannou went ten rounds with Tyson Fury, a lot of people think he won’? If AJ’s head isn’t okay, if after the last two or three fights he’s not in the right mindset for the fight with Ngannou, then for me it’s 50-50.”

“I would like to say that Anthony Joshua will beat Ngannou, but to be honest, Ngannou is doing more sparring, he is confident after the fight with Fury. Who knows, the fight could go either way. But for the sake of professional boxing, I will say that Anthony Joshua will beat Ngannou.”

Ngannou lost to WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury in a fight for the Riyadh champion. The fight, according to boxing rules, lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result of which two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.

Eddie Hearn’s promotion company has been trying for a long time to organize a fight between Joshua and former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Hearn himself complained that it was impossible to reach an agreement on a date. Eddie later said that the fight would not be his fault and that Wilder himself probably did not want the fight.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Hearn hinted that AJ should accept a possible invitation to fight Ngannou.
