The International Swimming Federation (FINA) will not withdraw the representative of Russia Maria Polyakova the exercise of functions within the Athletes’ Commission.
European diving champion Polyakova was elected to the competent committee at the end of June during the world aquatic championships in Budapest. The athletes themselves voted in favour.
“Maria Polyakova was elected by her colleagues to represent the voice of athletes in water sports,” FINA told , noting that they were not going to remove her from her post.
Some Ukrainian athletes demanded the removal of Polyakova from their social networks.
