Sidorchuk: Now I don’t see the player Sidorchuk in Dynamo, there are young guys there, and I can’t give anything new to Dynamo

Ex-Dynamo captain talks about moving to Westerlo

Former captain of Dynamo Kyiv Sergei Sidorchuk in an interview with Marina Mashkina for Sport Arena TV told me how it went his transfer to Westerlowhat I talked about with the president of the white-blues and what factor was decisive in the decision to leave the capital club.

“They contacted me from Westerloo back in April last year. They approached my transfer very comprehensively, and this won me over. I understood that it would be very difficult to leave Dynamo. It is very difficult to be without a family for a year and a half. You begin to degrade as a person. For me, this was the main impetus that I made such a decision,” Sidorchuk noted.

“There was more than one conversation with Surkis. When I had to transfer, we talked, more than once. It was a difficult conversation when you were already thinking whether to move or not. But we came to a general agreement. Surkis said: if you think that this will be better for you and your family, take this step.”

“Dynamo is trying to keep its players in order to get the best offer for them. They won’t keep him in Westerlo for so long – someone else will immediately take this place. Now I don’t see the player Sidorchuk in Dynamo. There are young guys there, and I can’t give Dynamo anything new. And if I can’t give anything new to the team, then I won’t sit there for show or as a wedding general.”

“I had a case when I had to move to Besiktas, and I already said goodbye to the guys at the base. But he didn’t leave. For me it was like pre-match training. It’s hard to leave the team that made you a person. And the relationship that I had with everyone there… It can be compared to how at the age of 17 you leave your family for another city to go to university. I understood that this had to happen someday. I’m no longer 18, and I had to make a decision. In order to live, sometimes you need a cold shower. When you play your whole life for one club, there is a charm to it. But you’re missing out on a lot.”

Sergei Sidorchuk played for Dynamo for more than 10 years – since January 2013. As part of the white and blue, the midfielder played 327 matches, in which he scored 27 goals and gave 27 assists.

In September of this year, Sidorchuk moved to Westerlo. The midfielder played seven matches for the Belgian club, scoring one goal.
