Gutzeit decided to focus on work at NOC
Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and Head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit told the details of his resignation from his post in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“Soon it will be almost a year since I hold the positions of Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. “This year there has been a lot of manipulation regarding my powers, decisions made and the combination of these positions.”
“Today I decided to resign from the post of Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and plan to focus on work in the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. For the support of my step, I am grateful to the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrey Ermak, and the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal.”
Gutzeit has already submitted his resignation from his position in the Cabinet of Ministers. In the near future, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plan to consider this petition from Gutzeit.
It was reported that Gutzeit’s dismissal was announced by Golos deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak and the head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia. At the same time, the deputies have not yet identified the candidacy of the new minister.
Gutzeit has served as Minister of Youth and Sports since March 2020. In the ministry, the 1992 Barcelona Olympic champion replaced Vladimir Borodyansky.
In November 2022, Gutzeit was elected as the new president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. He received more than 80% of the votes. The official stated that if he wins the presidential election, the NOC will leave his post in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which he has held since March 2020.
