Russian national team coach doesn’t believe media exposure is stopping Stepanova from progressing in the sport

Coach of the Russian national cross-country ski team Egor Sorine does not believe that media activity interferes with the Olympic champion Veronica Stepanova progress in sport.

Previously, the president of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR), Elena Vyalbe, repeatedly criticized the winner of the 2022 Games for excessive media attention.

“The fact that Nika enjoys being a media personality is a fact, but so far this in no way prevents her from continuing to develop in the sport.

Last season, Nika progressed well, even if some starts didn’t work out for her. Yes, according to the results, she is not Natalya Nepryaeva, although she can and should reach this level. She has room to grow. Stepanova is now 22 years old, but let’s remember what Natasha showed at this age: she did not participate in the World Championships in 2017 and was not even in the top 10 at the World Cup. And a year later it was transformed,” Sorin said, as quoted by RT.

Stepanova won gold at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing in the women’s relay.
