Athletistic/Figure skating. The head of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) Travis Tygart expressed his opinion on the doping case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. The case is expected to be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) today, November 9.

Recall that the positive result of Valieva’s doping test, carried out in December 2021 at the Russian Championship, became known only after the end of the team tournament of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Since Valieva helped the Russian team win gold medals, the award ceremony was postponed until the investigation was completed. The CAS preliminary hearing was scheduled for September but was ultimately postponed to November 9 and 10.

“This is the continuation of an absurd situation that undermines athletes’ confidence in the system. Athletes who waited almost two years for their medals have been denied justice. Justice has been damaged. Athletes will never be able to go back to the moment that would have belonged to them on the Olympic podium,” Tygart said, according to USA Today.
