Russian Diving Federation President Stanislav Druzhinin told that the organization is in constant dialogue with the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and that there are positive developments in the current situation, but they did not affect the decisions of the technical committees.
Russian representatives were not included in the technical committees of FINA. Previously, European diving champion Maria Polyakova was elected to the Athletes’ Commission.
– We appointed Dmitry Sautin to the technical committee of high diving, my candidacy – to the technical committee of diving. We will discuss with FINA to find a way to add Russian representatives in the future. We will do everything possible for this. We are constantly in dialogue with FINA, there are positive developments, but unfortunately such a decision was taken by the technical committees,” Druzhinin told .
“Hope still remains, but in general, faced with such an attitude, it should have been expected,” said Evgeny Sharonov, first vice-president of the Russian Water Polo Federation.
Sharonov was previously a member of the water polo technical committee.
