Volleyball player Nalobin remembers how he survived the earthquake in Turkey

Russian volleyball player Alexei Nalobin, who played for Hekimoglu last season, recalled how he survived the earthquake in Turkey, stressing that there was great mourning in the country.

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Turkey on the night of February 6. The earthquake was recognized as the most powerful to occur in Turkey since 1939.

— There was great mourning. And it didn’t happen overnight, because for a long time no one knew the exact number of victims – they only increased as the week went on. This slightly lessened the terrifying effect. In general, the Turks themselves have adapted to the situation: for them it is no longer something supernatural. As I understand it, this is the case. The only question is how you will react to this. If you get involved in this, you can travel a little. Arrived? Yes, but people continue to live. There is no way around this problem.

We are in Hatay [одна из провинций в Турции] were supposed to go to an away game next week. And the home team was playing away that day. Then they dragged the match for five sets and on the way back – 30 minutes before the finish – an earthquake occurred. We played five sets and survived. If three had played and this had happened, no one knows what could have happened next,” Nalobina was quoted as saying by “Championship”.

At the end of the season, Hekimoglu finished in tenth place in the Turkish championship.
