The president of the Russian Rowing Federation, Alexei Svirin, told that the organization had withdrawn the request for exclusion from international competitions to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
On Thursday, a source told that all Russian sports federations had withdrawn their complaints to the CAS against the decision to exclude them from international competitions.
— Yes, our federation withdrew the CAS complaint, this happened almost a year ago, around November-December. We fully understand the current situation, our capabilities and our jurisdictions. We resumed dialogue with the international federation and began to discuss the issue of admission of our athletes. We realized that it was better to engage in a progressive story, a discussion rather than an argument,” Svirin told .
Russian rowers took part in the World Rowing Championships in Serbia, which took place in July. In August, Russian rowers were allowed to participate in the U23 European Championships in Krefeld, but they were unable to attend due to the host country’s refusal to issue them visas.
