Eliseev noted that it was decided to exclude handshakes in fights between athletes from Russia and Ukraine, as well as Belarus and Ukraine at the upcoming World Championships. This proposal was initiated by the Ukrainian federation as part of a government decision in its country. In response to force majeure circumstances, Ukrainian athletes offered to refuse handshakes in order to ensure their participation in the World Championships. The decision was supported by the ISAF Executive Committee.
The World Sambo Championship will take place from November 10 to 12 in Yerevan, while sambo wrestlers from Russia, Belarus, France and refugee teams will participate in the tournament in neutral status.
