Porto coach urged not to underestimate the quality of other teams
Head coach Porto Sergio Conceição urged journalists not to underestimate the quality of the opponents with whom the Dragons play in the Portuguese championship and European competitions.
“People around Porto often forget that we play against other opponents and that they also have their own qualities. We don’t play alone. The coaches also have clearly defined strategies for the game against Porto.”
“I give an example Shakhtar in the Champions League, which won against Barcelona. When we beat them 3-1 in the first game of the group stage, it seemed that Shakhtar were the team in the area that was extremely weak. Now they look at him completely differently.”
“Antwerp is also competitive. Is it among the best teams in Europe? No. But he is the champion of Belgium, and Belgium is very high at the level of the national team. Let’s not devalue all the good we do and appreciate what we have achieved.”
Porto beat Shakhtar in the first round of the group stage of the Champions League. The Dragons are in second place in Group H, three points ahead of the Miners. The Conceicao team will play their next match on November 11 against Vitoria Guimarães in the Portuguese Championship.
