The Ukrainian women’s team lost to Portugal in the EuroBasket 2025 qualification

Murzin’s team was ahead after the third quarter, but spent the decisive period unsuccessfully

Ukrainian women’s team lost dramatically Portugal in a nominally home qualifying match EuroBasket 2025 — 63:78.

Throughout the first quarter of the match, which took place in Riga, the Ukrainians had the advantage, sometimes the lead in the score reached 11-12 points. The Portuguese managed to improve in the second quarter, but the teams went into the long break with a minimal advantage for Ukraine – 30:29.

Evgeniy Murzin’s team confidently spent the third period, following which they led with a difference of +6. But the decisive quarter was marked by a deafeningly powerful performance by the Portuguese team, which scored 35 points in the quarter and ultimately celebrated a strong-willed victory.

The Ukrainian team suffered a second defeat in a row – we recall that it was previously defeated by the Serbian team on a visit (40:82). The Ukrainian national team will play the next two matches a year later, in November 2024.

Let us remind you that team leader Alina Yagupova misses the November EuroBasket qualifying matches due to injury. Also in the team, Kristina Filevich replaced the injured Ulyana Datsko.

Women’s EuroBasket 2025 will be held for the first time in four countries – Italy, Greece, the Czech Republic and Germany. The teams of these countries received places in the final part and will play each other for FIBA ranking points in Group I.
