Figure skater Daniel Samsonov told how he feels now after his injury and which jump he plans to include in the program at the next stage of the Russian Grand Prix.
Samsonov missed last season due to injury and was not included in the Russian national team. According to the results of the fourth stage of the Kazan Grand Prix, the skater took sixth place with 226.62 points. Next time he will perform at the Moscow Grand Prix on November 25-26.
— It’s your first start of the season. Are you satisfied with the rental?
“I haven’t set myself huge goals for these competitions. I just wanted to appear in public, because the last time I played in such a venue was a year ago. Of course I wanted to skate clean. I was better prepared than I showed. But as they say, the first thing is lumpy. I hope the show will be better in Moscow.
— Which rental did you prefer?
— I am more satisfied with the free program than the short program.
-You were seriously injured. How is your health now?
— I wouldn’t really want to touch on the subject of health, but I will say a few words. If I had been seriously injured, I probably would not have come to Kazan, but, as you can see, I am here, which means that everything is more or less okay. Like all athletes, there are some problems. I have some discomfort in my left knee, but it doesn’t bother me much.
— You will have the second stage of the Grand Prix in Moscow. Should we expect changes in program content?
— It’s too early to talk about it. I haven’t even returned to Moscow yet and the scene is still two weeks away. Let’s see what happens to the knee. If it gives me the opportunity to skip Salchow, maybe I will include it in the program. But I can’t say anything yet.
The goal is to stabilize what we have at the moment, to try to skate the programs cleanly. As I said before, even with this content, with pure box office, I can fight for the good places,” Samsonov told .
