The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23, but Tyson will not have time to prepare for this time
Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin believes that the WBC belt holder Tyson Fury will be a big favorite in the fight for the title of absolute world champion with the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles Alexander Usik.
“Fury will be the favorite for me, but he didn’t look good last time against Ngannou. I think Ngannou did a really good job. I can’t believe how well he did. But I also get the feeling that Fury really underestimated him and probably didn’t expect much from him. So this probably came as a big surprise to Fury. I think Fury is still the favorite with Usyk, but Usyk will give him a really good fight.”
“Sometimes it seems like Fury doesn’t take things seriously. He last fought against Dereck Chisora. This was in December, so almost a year has passed. And who knows what he did during this time? He’s a champion and I’m sure he knows that, but he has to stay in the gym and take everything seriously because otherwise it will take its toll if you do a lot of other things.”
The world community considers Fury the favorite in the fight with the Ukrainian. Among those predicting a victory for the Gypsy King are former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder, interim WBO belt holder Zhang Zhilei, former super middleweight world champion Caleb Plant and former WBC cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis.
At the end of September, it became known that Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed title in the heavyweight category. The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23, but Tyson will not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usyk and Fury are expected to enter the ring in February 2024. Note that the contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title contains a rematch clause.
