Holyfield: Wilder will win against Joshua

The head-to-head fight could take place in the spring of 2024

Former absolute world champion in two weight categories Evander Holyfield believes that the former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will be able to defeat the former world champion in heavyweight Anthony Joshua.

“I think Wilder will win against Joshua. He will beat Anthony due to his powerful striking and also Joshua’s fighting style. Anthony is open to strikes. And at that moment Deontay will be able to land the decisive blow with his right hand.”

In August, the WBC Board of Governors rescinded its order for a mandatory title eliminator between Wilder and Andy Ruiz.

Wilder and Joshua have been in talks for a long time about a fight in December. The British promoter Eddie Hearn announced problems with the place and date of the fight, after which he suggested that the event could be held no earlier than March-April 2024.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Deontay’s last opponent was also Helenius – the American won by knockout in the first round.

It has been reported that Wilder plans to fight Joseph Parker, while Joshua will face Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin on the same night. Separate fights of the three former champion belt holders are scheduled to take place on December 23 in Saudi Arabia.
