Athletistic/Figure skating. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has expressed its desire for a rapid resolution of the problem linked to the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, in the interests of the athletes and the integrity of the competition. This was reported by the IOC press service according to RIA Novosti.

The information that the panel of arbitrators of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will make a decision on Valieva’s case at the end of January 2024 was published on the CAS website on Friday. The first hearings took place in Lausanne from September 26 to 28, after which the arbitrators came to the conclusion that additional documentation was necessary, leading to the postponement of the hearings to November 9 and 10. The CAS announced the conclusion of the hearing on Friday.

The IOC press service confirmed that its position remains unchanged, expressing hope for a rapid resolution of the issue in the interests of athletes and ensuring the integrity of competitions.

Recall that Kamila Valieva passed a positive doping test on December 25, 2021, the day of the free program at the Russian Championship. This information became known on February 8, 2022, the day after the end of the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, where the Russian team with the participation of Valieva won.
