UAF Referee Committee: Beskorovainy’s removal in the 14th round match Krivbass – Dynamo was correct

At the same time, the Committee recognized Sandor’s mistake in the case of Iede’s first card in the 13th round and temporarily suspended the referee

Arbitrators Committee Ukrainian Football Association commented on a number of controversial episodes in the matches of the 13th and 14th rounds UPL.

Thus, in the match of the 13th round on November 5 between Metalist 1925 and Chernomorets (2:1), the removal of visiting player Samson Iede with the score 1:0 in favor of his team became resonant, or rather, the first yellow card that the Nigerian received for simulation .

This decision was criticized after the match by Odessa head coach Roman Grigorchuk.

The experts, having examined the controversial situation, rendered a verdict: the match referee Alexander Shandor misinterpreted the striker’s fall as a simulation (even though he was not fouled) and mistakenly gave him the first warning. However, the VAR system could not be used because it does not have jurisdiction to check yellow cards.

The second yellow card, which led to the sending off, was ruled correct. The referee committee temporarily suspended the referee from conducting matches.

It is curious that this is not the first mistake of Sandor this season, recognized by the UAF refereeing committee. Earlier, Alexander made a mistake in the 7th round match Alexandria – Minai (1:1).

One of the most discussed refereeing decisions of the 14th round of the Premier League was the direct ejection Maxim Kozyryatsky Krivbass defender Daniil Beskorovainy in the 12th minute of the home match with Dynamo (0:2).

This decision was recognized by the UAF arbitration experts as correct, since it fits the typology of “Interruption of an obvious scoring opportunity” and, according to the rules, should be punishable by a penalty kick and a disciplinary sanction in the form of a red card, as Kozyryatsky did.

Recently, the Committee of Referees has begun to publicly comment on some scandalous game episodes, often admitting the mistakes of referees of UPL matches – in addition to the mentioned episode with Shandor’s error in the 7th round, cases with the actions of Yaroslav Kozyk (1st round), Dmitry Bondarenko (6th round) deserve attention. -th round), and Alexander Afanasyev (9th round).

According to new information from journalist Victor Vatsko, the above-mentioned Yaroslav Kozyk is the main contender to replace Luciano Luci, the long-time curator of the Committee of Referees of the Ukrainian Football Association. The upcoming changes are associated with the likely re-election of the UAF president.

Let us recall that in early November the UPL demanded that the UAF convene an extraordinary reporting and election Congress. It is expected that a new president of the Association should be elected there instead of Andrei Pavelko, who is under investigation.

FC Chernomorets, in turn, expressed hope that the elections of the UAF President will become a real catalyst for changes in the work of referees.
