Spalletti called up defenders Lazzari and Biraghi to the Italian national team

Squadra Azzurra will play a match on November 17 with Northern Macdonia, and then will play with Ukraine on November 20

Head coach Italian national team Luciano Spalletti called up defenders to the national team Manuel Lazzari from Lazio and Cristiano Biraghi from Fiorentina.

Lazzari, 29, made three appearances for Squadra Azzurra. The 31-year-old Biraghi has 16 fights and one goal scored.

Earlier, midfielder Manuel Locatelli left the Squadra Azzurra training camp. Also, Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret, as well as defenders Davide Calabria (Milan) and Rafael Toloi (Atalanta), will miss the November European Championship qualifying matches due to injuries.

In addition to them, the injured Lorenzo Pellegrini and Mattia Zaccagni will not play for the national team in November. Also not called up is Ciro Immobile, Squadra Azzurra’s top scorer in the current convocation.

The Italian national team takes third place in Group C of qualification for the 2024 European Championship. Spalletti’s team is three points behind the Ukrainian team, having played one match less.

On November 17, Italy will play against North Macedonia. The key match with Ukraine is scheduled for November 20.
