Double Olympic cross-country ski champion Ingvild Ostberg will not participate in competitions at the start of the new season due to lack of a health certificate.
Norwegian team doctor Ove Feragen said it was currently impossible to determine the timing of the 33-year-old’s return.
“I did a lot of work, I had support around me, but unfortunately, at the moment, all the indications are not good enough to receive an approved health certificate. “I didn’t find the necessary balance between training and nutrition,” Ostberg quoted VG as saying.
The Norwegian missed most of the 2019/20 season and the entire 2020/21 season due to health issues. The athlete also did not participate in the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Ostberg won gold at the Sochi Games in the team sprint and in Pyeongchang in the relay, and she also won silver at the 2014 Olympics in the individual sprint.
The first stage of the World Cup will take place in Finnish Ruka from November 24 to 26.
