Elena, like Jim, will not be at the World Cup in Östersund
Ukrainian biathlete Elena Bilosyuk (nee Pidhrushnaya) will start the 2023/24 season on IBU Cup.
The Ukrainian is preparing for competitions together with the men’s team B in Kontiolahti, Finland.
The first stage of the IBU Cup will take place on November 30. Elena will be joined there by four out of ten biathletes who will not make it to the World Cup in Ostersund, Sweden. Let us remind you that Yulia Jima, who suffered from the disease, will also miss this stage.
Bilosyuk last competed at the IBU Cup in the 2019/20 season. At the stage in Shushen, Norway, she won a silver medal in the sprint.
In August 20123, it was a surprise that Bilosyuk was not included in the main roster of the Ukrainian national team for the summer Biathlon World Championships in Brezno-Osrbly, Slovakia. The senior coach of the Ukrainian women’s biathlon team, Nikolai Zots, justified this step as a “vector for the rejuvenation of the team.”
In 2014, the biathlete as part of the Ukrainian national team became the Olympic champion in the relay. In addition, Elena is the 2012 world champion and five-time European champion.
