Athletistic/ Chess. The St. Louis Rapid Chess Tournament began on November 14 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Louis fast and blitz. This competition is the fourth stage of the Grand Chess Tour 2023.
The leader after the first match is Vietnamese Le Quang Liem, who scored 2.5 points. Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi occupies seventh place with just one point to his name.
Nepomniachtchi first lost to the American Samuel Sevyan, then he drew with the Dutchman Anish Giri, and in the 3rd round he shared the points with another American, Fabian Caruana.
The tournament in St. Louis will end on November 19. From November 14 to 16, chess players will play in rapid format (25 minutes + 10 seconds per move), and on November 17 and 18, grandmasters will play in blitz format (5 minutes + 2 seconds per move). Note that for a victory in a quick round, players receive two points, for a draw – one; in blitz, one point for a victory, 0.5 points for a draw.
