President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov told that the recommendations International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding participation in the World Friendship Games does not change anything, since the decision will be made by the athletes themselves, based on common sense.
As previously learned, the IOC sent letters to the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) at the end of October asking them to refuse to participate in the Friendship Games, which will be held from September 15 to 29, 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
“Our job is to invite participants, so, basically, these recommendations don’t change anything for us. Hopefully common sense will prevail and athletes from other teams will come to the competition. No one can forbid us from inviting athletes, and the decision is theirs,” Salnikov told .
