“The IOC is afraid of competition and the number of countries that have already expressed the desire to participate in the World Friendship Games. I believe that the IOC, which talks about the politicization of sport, is itself stuck in this for a long time. Now they are trying to threaten national Olympic committees and individual athletes who want to compete in Moscow. Obviously, the IOC does not have the power to influence countries. We categorically reject any accusation that our competitions are politicized. Unlike the IOC, we give the opportunity to all athletes to perform under equal conditions and without any discriminatory restrictions,” Svishchev noted in an interview with a Sport24 correspondent.
The first-ever Friendship Games are planned for September 2024 and will be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
